Empowering Youth at Moshi Co-operative University.

MoCU Outreach Session

In November 2021, Mediams-Tanzania accompanied by volunteer doctors from KCMC visited MoCU to share valuable health knowledge with over 300 first-year students.

Dr. Kim and Dr. Editruda Gamassa, both psychiatrists, held a session on the effects of substance abuse, awareness on suicide prevention among youth, and other mental health conditions. This was a critical session, considering the stigma still surrounding mental health in our society.

Dr. John Robert focused on sexual health, STDs, and STIs, emphasizing safe practices to avoid unplanned pregnancies and promoting body positivity. He also shared insights on maintaining a healthy balance between academic studies and extracurricular activities.

The easy-going atmosphere allowed for open discussion, revealing a significant lack of prior awareness among participants regarding these vital medical conditions. The seminar empowered students to take better care of themselves and share this knowledge with their peers.

"The seminar helped them become more aware of how to take care of themselves but most importantly how to share the knowledge they garnered with their colleagues."

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Vice Chancellor Prof. Alfred S. Sife, Madam Elisifa Nnko, Mr. Raheem Msofe, and the entire university staff for this opportunity to transform lives.
