Caring for the Children of Mwandaliwa Orphanage.

Located in Mbweni, Dar es Salaam, Mwandaliwa Orphanage Centre has been a home for abandoned children since 2002.

The centre houses nearly a hundred children, ranging from infants to teenagers on the verge of adulthood. While the environment is conducive, the centre often lacks basic amenities, and funds for schooling and food can be scarce.

Our team visited with the goal of providing knowledge on oral and body hygiene, as well as primary reproductive health. We used fun games to teach the younger children how to brush their teeth properly, while holding more serious sessions on puberty and menstrual hygiene for the older students.

Beyond education, we provided essential supplies including bags of flour, toothbrushes, soaps, and sanitary pads. The centre is also making strides toward self-sustainability through tailoring and poultry activities.

"Despite the numerous strides, the orphanage still needs our help and support. There are plans for solar power facilities to provide sustaining energy for the centre."
